MASRIERA is the only continously produced Art Nouveau collection in the world. The use of original proceedings make each jewel an original piece of art. In the last decades of the 19th century, the jewelry became greatly influenced by the artist Lluís Masriera, essential name of the Art Nouveau movement in Europe, who revolutionized the jewelry sector with his designs filled with fantasy and motifs from nature.
Nature was the single most important source for Art Nouveau artists. The roots of this brand date back to the 19th century, when LLuís Masriera, born into a family of artists, painters, enamellers and jewellers firmly linked to the cultural and artistic life of Barcelona, decided to open his first workshop in the city to explore new creative channels of expression of the Art Nouveau style in jewelry.

The city witnessed the birth of this ancient dynasty of jewellers and goldsmiths; a family strongly linked to the cultural and artistic life of Barcelona in 1839. The artistic vocation has always been central to the creative process for MASRIERA and it is linked with a specific cultural context but also to contemporary trends. Specially influenced by the use of colour, enamel and great materials, MASRIERA works patiently on researching the character for the pieces, shying away from eclecticism. We create products that capture and build connections with the moment, using their own language; this is what makes them so eternal. One way of perceiving the jewelry is to view it as a work of art in itself. All the material used for our creations has a predetermined and unique function. From their conceptualization, all the materials and stones are chosen based on their function and what they can contribute to the final piece.
In the creative process of each piece, MASRIERA continues using techniques that made the brand an international benchmark: “plique-à-jour”, “basse taille”, “champlevé”, and vitreous enamelling or painting on enamel.
These processes need the experience and precision of expert craftsmen and women, as well as high quality materials and production processes. The enamels provide the jewels with a unique translucent effect, fluctuating depending on the level of heat applied to them. Applying the enamels is a very delicate task requiring a great deal of experience and precision that only artisans with expert knowledge in enamelling are able to achieve with the perfection required.
